What Personal Qualities Do You Need?

Additionally, you should be an inspiring communicator, able to engage and motivate students from various backgrounds.
How to Become a Dog Grooming Instructor
Ideal candidates will be qualified dog groomers, holding a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming, and preferably a teaching qualification like the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
While formal teaching experience is beneficial, it's not essential. Experience in training, coaching, or mentoring—whether through volunteer work or in a professional setting—is highly valued. You'll also need a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before starting your teaching role.
At Upper Hound, we understand that a teaching qualification is not always a prerequisite. We value experience and passion, and we’re open to discussing opportunities for professional development, including funding your teaching qualification while you work with us.
Career Progression
As you gain experience, you could advance to senior roles within Upper Hound, such as department head, assessor, examiner, or verifier. There’s also potential to develop your own textbooks, learning materials, or online courses.
